Also, when a question like the addresses of two of the candidates for selectmen, have been bought to light and you have been contacted and informed the first listing was inaccurate, you do nothing for your ceditablity not to acknowledge it and post the correction. Please use this site to promote people to get involved and no to tear the town apart.
To the others who posted, are you involved in town affairs? Have you made it a point to be involved? I have got to town meetings in the past only to have been sent home because we didn't have enough people to carry on. If you have the interest to attack this man, do it with the right ammo; your participation in town affairs; having some idea of what goes on in your town.
As for myself, I have lived in this town for 31 years and I plan to die here. Through all these issues and more, much like Mr. Givan, I love this town. We can not let this town empty any longer. We all need to get involved.

1. Massachusetts is not the only state to allow officers to work "paid details". It is true that it is rare to find police officers at road construction sites in other states. Paid details also include security details at bars, large events, etc. Many of these details are at the request of the business owner/ event manager. The West Boylston Police Department has had requests from Loomis-Fargo, The West Boylston Cinemas, Wal-Mart and the former Price Chopper (to name a few) for security details with no by-law requirement.

2. Your police department has thirteen sworn officers, the Chief, four sergeants, one detective and seven patrolmen. The other officers listed in the town report are from area police departments that fill paid details when your department can not. They do not receive health insurance or other benfits through West Boylston.

3. The police officers in West Boylston may receive 80% retirement upon working 32 years. They may not begin collecting this retirement pay until they have reached 55 years of age. They contribute a percentage of their pay to this retirement system each pay period. (between 5% and 11%)(FYI - State judges collect 100% retirement from the same retirement system with out contributing a cent to it, a topic for another day.)

You may feel that West Boylston does not need a police department. I would disagree, but I will not try to change your opinion.

I apologize for the length of my comments. I hope you investigate my facts and make the appropriate changes to your web page.

Your statistics about the full time positions for the Milford N.H. Fire Department versus the West Boylston Fire Department are misleading. According to the town website, the Milford NH Fire Department provides fire protection only, NO Emergency Medical Service. The have 5 full time firefighters for a population of 14,700. But Milford also has a town run Emergency Medical Service staffed by 11 full time medics. So the real number of fulltime people to provide fire and EMS for Milford is 16.

West Boylston Fire Department provides both Fire and Emergency Medical Services for with only 5 full time people. Of course I doubt you will put the correct information on the Fire and Police section of your website, because you don’t want to face the real facts

An employee leaves fifteen minutes early the last night of ice storm working 8 days of 18hrs on 6 off and he gets fired when he was told the work was done for the night!
Two employees get laid off because of work shortage... "there is plenty of work to be done but the manager will not let me schedule any work!"
Oh is that why the manager was scheduling tree trimming and chipping for the past year! Hmmm?
Or was the lay off to keep mouths shut!
The two employees are laid off so back to the normal scheduling of work!?!?!?

If you want to see corruption. Check the W.B. Light dept.

There are many things that need to be know....especially for the sake of(us)the rate paying people!

People don't realize that the W.B. Light Dept. is not part of the town. So I bet the town doesnt know the half of whats happening in there own town @ there own municipality!

W.B. Light manager has cut the work force close to half between employees and contractors...but your light bill has gone up 3 times since hes been manager!
